Given the growing trend toward automation and digitization of production processes, there is an increasing need, at control voltage levels of 24 V, to ensure power supply and distribution are monitored as well. Electronic circuit breakers can perform this task. They support selective protection of DC circuits and offer far more tailored protection against overcurrent and short circuits than conventional circuit breakers. BLOCK offers one of the widest ranges of electronic circuit breakers for reliable protection of small control systems – and these can also be used for larger machinery and system arrangements. Both the EasyB modular single-channel system and the multichannel circuit breakers in the Power Compact and Power Mini series set the right standards in these areas, even where applications require particularly powerful, robust or compact products. EasyB - the smart module
The EasyB modular 24 V circuit breaker system supports the individual protection and monitoring of individual load circuits and is a great addition to our range for Industry 4.0 applications. Besides giving circuits the protection they need, the system solution also offers users real added value thanks to numerous equipment versions and extensive accessories. The circuit breaker modules, with their compact design, can be used on their own or in combination. Automatic feedthrough of all signal levels, with up to 40 circuit breakers mountable side by side, means this system is easy to adapt to any individual application.
Intelligent and compact
The intelligent multichannel circuit breakers are easy to integrate into the higher-level control system via a 2-wire connection or IO-Link and provide protection for up to 8 channels. They support individual parameter settings and monitoring and can be integrated into a system in the best possible way – to suit individual needs – with their compact design. To guarantee maximum system availability, they support selective protection of loads and can therefore be used in any application.
Electronic circuit breakers at junction points, for 24 V power distribution purposes, have a key role to play in implementing the objectives of Industry 4.0. In particular, the options for monitoring current levels – with a view to early detection of wear-related failures and targeted switching of loads – offer end users certain cost benefits. BLOCK electronic circuit breakers are ideally equipped for this and also offer added value in terms of simplified installation and wiring. Future developments associated with Industry 4.0 have the potential, through further simplification of communication structures and flatter hierarchies, to bring the Internet even closer to machines or even incorporate it within them.
