Data centers are the backbone of an increasingly digital world and place particularly high demands on availability, reliability and operational safety. Even short interruptions in the power supply can affect critical processes, which makes a stable and well-coordinated energy infrastructure essential. From cooling and ventilation systems to building automation, monitoring, control systems and auxiliary power distribution, numerous applications within a data center require a continuous and dependable power supply.
BLOCK offers a broad portfolio of products designed to support this critical infrastructure. Power supplies, UPS systems, electronic circuit breakers, power quality components and control transformers work together to ensure reliable operation, protect sensitive equipment and maintain system availability. Whether the focus is on bridging voltage dips, selectively protecting individual circuits, reducing electromagnetic interference or supplying automation and monitoring components, BLOCK products can be integrated into a wide range of data center applications.
Our products support the power supply, protection and monitoring functions of the data center infrastructure highlighted in the illustration.
COOLING & VENTILATION
Reliable cooling and ventilation are essential to prevent overheating and maintain data center availability. Our POWER ADVANCED power supplies provide stable DC power for fans and auxiliary circuits. Our electronic circuit breakers of the EasyB series and the multi-channel circuit breakers selectively disconnect individual load circuits in the event of an overload or short circuit, helping maintain power to unaffected cooling and ventilation components. For cooling equipment requiring AC control power, our CT control transformers adapt the supply voltage and provide electrical isolation.
For converter-fed fan and pump drives, our LR3 line reactors help limit current peaks, while our HF1K harmonic filters reduce harmonic currents. Our HLD EMI filters suppress conducted interference, helping limit the spread of electrical disturbances through the cooling installation’s power supply.
SENSORS & MONITORING
Continuous monitoring helps operators track conditions throughout a data center and detect problems early. Our POWER ADVANCED power supplies provide DC power for critical sensors and communication modules. Our EasyB electronic circuit breakers selectively disconnect faulty load circuits, helping keep unaffected monitoring functions available. With optional communication modules, they also report channel status, load current and input voltage to higher-level control systems. These data help maintenance teams locate electrical faults and provide a basis for condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.
CONTROL SYSTEMS
Control systems coordinate essential data center functions and need to remain operational during supply disturbances. Our POWER ADVANCED power supplies offer power reserves for temporary load peaks, helping keep controllers, HMIs and automation components supplied when connected loads switch on. Our POWER COMPACT power supplies offer a wide input voltage range, supporting a consistent DC supply concept across installations with different incoming voltages.
To bridge voltage dips and brief interruptions, our POWER COMPACT capacitive UPS solutions PC-0424 or PMC-0424 maintain power to control and communication circuits. Their long-life energy storage requires little maintenance, making them suitable for applications that need frequent, short periods of backup.
BUILDING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
Building automation and access control help maintain suitable operating conditions and protect data center facilities. Our POWER ECO LINE power supplies combine a compact design with straightforward DIN rail installation, making them suitable for these applications. Where communication and monitoring must remain available during outages, our POWER ADVANCED battery UPS systems PCC-0524 can be combined with our POWER STORAGE PST or POWER VISION PVAF battery modules to provide extended backup. Battery monitoring and early warnings of declining battery life support planned maintenance of the backup supply.
AUXILIARY POWER DISTRIBUTION
Reliable auxiliary power is essential to keep a data center’s support systems operational. For central DC distribution in control cabinets, our POWER ULTIMATE power supplies support redundant supply arrangements through integrated output decoupling, helping maintain power if one supply unit fails. Our compact Economy Smart electronic circuit breakers protect individual load circuits, with adjustable protection settings to suit the connected equipment. Sequential startup helps manage demand when multiple DC loads are switched on.
