Next milestone on BLOCK's global growth strategy

January 14, 2019 saw the official opening of BLOCK's new plant in China at Kunshan, in Jiangsu province. The site, which covers 1,800 m2, will now accommodate the production, warehousing and distribution facilities of BLOCK Electronics (Kunshan) Co. Ltd.

Udo L. Thiel, Managing Director of BLOCK Transformatoren-Electronics GmbH and the legal representative of BLOCK Electronics (Kunshan) Co. Ltd. and Lars Ullenboom, Managing Director of BLOCK Transformatoren-Electronics GmbH and President of BLOCK USA, joined the BLOCK China team led by General Manager Alex Meng in welcoming numerous customers, suppliers, and business partners to the official opening of the new facility. There was much talk about Smart Factory, Industry 4.0, and the promising opportunities for German companies in China.

A modern industrial center called the German Industry Park (GIP) that is already home to numerous leading German manufacturers has been established in Kunshan, which has direct transport links to Shanghai.

Jianhua Wang, General Manager of the GIP, welcomed BLOCK and the event culminated with the ceremonious cutting of the ribbon.

"We're going to create about 100 new jobs here in the next five years, and capture the Chinese market with attractively priced products that are

‘designed in Germany, made in China’”.
